Has anyone grown Christensonia Vietnamica x Neofinetia Falcata in sh?

Just got one of these along with a standard Neo.

Even if you've only grown the parents, based on your experience do you think it would work?

If so, any tips for size/height of container, etc?

Alternatively, is there another method you think is much better?

I cannot grow vandaceous plants in semi-hydro culture, but the folks I know to be successful with them grow in the home, in quite dry conditions.

That said, different folks have different, often incorrect definitions of what "S/H" is, so who knows if they're keeping the LECA constantly moist?

I had a Neo Falcata that was just doing so-so in a traditional-decorative Neo pot with Sphag moss. I removed the moss and filled the pot with LECA, then put the Neo pot into a solid reservoir pot that is just a bit larger than the Neo pots, and to my surprise it really responded favorably.

In this way, I reduced the risk of over-watering by removing the Sphag moss, but in a reservoir container I maintain a high RH. I also spritz the topmost LECA every other day or so as the RH is low in the cooler part of the house where I keep them with other cool-intermediate temp orchids.

It's all about finding what works in your growing environment with your watering habits. What
is great about LECA is that it doesn't break down over time, so if you find a routine that works in a given environment, you know it will always work.

I grow in a GH, so I have good humidity. For small Vandaceous plants, I use 3" net pots with a mix of 75% spaghnum and 25% bark.

After 2-3 years, when plants are mature (starting basal keikis), I go to a 4" or 5" net pot or basket, and increase the bark ratio to about 1/3.
