Have some doubts, please.
Hello,
I am looking forward to transfer a few of my orchids (mainly phals and oncidiums) to semi-hydroponics system (using LECA). I live in India and want to know whether this would work in my climate: in summers, the temperature in my city goes up to 43 degrees Celsius and in winters, it is as low at 8 degrees Celsius. Kindly let me know if anyone here is successful in growing orchids in such a climate. Is there anything I should keep in mind/ some pointers/tips? Thanks in advance! |
I have temperatures like that but I keep the plants in the house in the summer, where it is upper 30s. Phals and oncidiums grow well in S/H. I haven't tried them outside during the summer. Oncidiums are not high-heat plants. They should love your winters outside.
Transfer them only during active root growth. For phals that should be throughout warmer weather. For oncidiums that means around the time new growths are forming. |
