Catasetum Partial P-Bulb Propagation?

1 Attachment(s)
At the end of last season my Fdk 'Midnight Lace' rotted at the base, leaving the bulk of the pseudobulb intact. I excised the rotted area and put the remainder in a brightly lit, warm and dry area. In the spring two new growths formed, grew well and are apparently entering their dormancy in good shape. Of course during the growing season these growths used up the stored energy in the pseudobulb, and it shrivelled away to nothing. Almost. I was able to remove an approximately 2" section of hard, green pseudobulb from the end about a week ago, and have it set up in the same conditions as last season. Fingers crossed......

Orchids are amazing, aren't they? Good luck with your 'experiment' this year! Hope it gives you a new growth again!

I did the very same thing, and it worked. I never took a picture of the new growth, post pic soon.

Thanks, that's very good to hear. I was pretty optimistic when I did it, and hearing a success story affirms it. I will definitely post a pic if it works.

Here is the Brassia p. bulb I planted back in Feb. 2015.

That chunk of p bulb looks like there are notches and nodes from whence a new growth might spring. Looking forward to updates.

Hi! I made it with FDK After Dark 2 years ago and it worked! Now I have 3 plants :)
