Hi everyone,
I previously posted this phal on Shipment Stress as well but the thread seems like to be deleted.

So this plant receives sunlight well,I water it once 9-10 days,I open window in the morning for 1-2 hour for air circulation.I am basically doing my best as I know but it does not seem to help. Here is the picture and as you can see the leaves on the right side is going more downwards.

I geniunely try to understand this phal.I had no problems with Noid phals but when it comes to those with names I have this problem.

I think there is an edema as well but I am only watering it 9-10 days when the roots are silver and when its not heavy.

It just drives me crazy as I follow the rules but still cannot help this plant. I am living in United Kingdom , Sheffield and I am really struggling to understand her. I hope you can help me.

It looks a little on the dry side, but looks fairly healthy. Maybe increase the watering frequency a little might perk it up. I wouldn't be opening the window at this time of the year, the cold draughts will not be good for it.

I can't tell whether leaves are wrinkled, which would be a sign of too little water. But even in Sheffield, I might think 9-10 days is a long watering interval for that plant in that small pot with large bark chunks.

The leaves look to me as though they naturally grow up and then curl down a bit at the tips. Phals tend not to do this, but Ascos may.

I use bamboo skewers to help me determine when to water http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ine-water.html - I can't say if the leaves look ok or not (sorry), as I'm not familiar with this kind of hybrid - how do the roots look?

I am in the desert here, and that looks very dry. I think some moss in the mix might help in the summer, in the shade, I had to water mine 3-4 times a day. I have had them stay roots in a fish tank filter (I have enough phals to try evil experiments) for a month straight and not die off. Maybe you should try semi-hydroponic?

Thank you for showing me the previous link.The roots are patchy all of them greeny white with zebra marks and thats the way it is since it arrived.

I dont know if this thing coming from the crown is a root but its really huge in size.So what is this ? Is my phal normal ?

What I see in that photo is a normal-looking root tip. Other than that (?) - sorry, it's a bit out of focus.

What I would suggest regarding watering is possibly watering a little more often, more thoroughly when you do, but still allowing it to dry between each time you water.

Try watering twice a week. Each time you water, maybe soak the roots/bark (not leaves) for 15 minutes or so, then drain. Water again only when the medium is nearly dry; roots typically will be more silvery and less green when they need water. In terms of frequency, when it's needed ("nearly dry") is more important than the span of time between watering (i.e., "twice a week" is just a suggestion).

I can take a picture again.I was just concerned since the roots colour starts with silver to a violet like brown (not rotten for sure) and its quite fat and quite big compared to her other roots.

Is this an aerial root by the way ? And thank you for the tips will definitly water in that way.
