Orchid ID needed!
Hi all!
Inherited and orchid from a friend who is moving away, and she can't take it with her sadly. . She got it from Andy's, but it doesn't have a tag. I was think Brassovola of some sort? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...6cf17d4e1d.jpg |
Looks like a Brassavola to me.
Cucullata maybe?
Was thinking brassavola or leptotes? Take bloom pix when it surprises you!
Does anyone have advice on how to approach the culture if I don't know the species until it blooms? Mainly interested in how much light I should give it...
Temperature permitting I keep my B. nodosa outside in about half day sun, and my Leptotes bicolor is in a terrarium about 6" below a 2 bulb T5HO fixture. They both like lots of light.
Leptotes could be. Maybe also Schoenorchis juncifolia.
Ask your friend how she grew it. SF can be pretty cold during the summer.
It will be inside, so I'm not too worried about temperature. It's too bad she couldn't remember what it is.. :/
It also appears that it's flowered before, so I suppose I'll keep my fingers crossed. I have to say that I'm really hoping for a Brassovola! |

Is it safe to say this mystery Brassovola is projecting a spike?
She has become quite adjusted and pleased in my southwest window. :D Attachment 118196 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk |
