My Mini Orchid Vivariums- UPDATE!
Here is what my Mini Orchidarium looks like today... I've done some changes and am pleased with the results. I moved out the encyclia branch and put in a Dendrobium Illusion from Mountain Magic and a Den Cuthbertsonii from Tom Perlite. I bloomed the Illusion in tank... Currently has 5 flowers and 2 buds. The Cuthbertsonii was in bloom when I bought it, and has 1 new growth that formed in tank.

My focus lately is to make small vivariums, focused on creating an environment for a single orchid or single genus. Here are the 2 I've started. This one is built in a $3.00 display I picked up from the Daiso store. Here's the initial setup: http://i.imgur.com/yURLGvv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2kMPE5v.jpg And here it is 6 months later: http://i.imgur.com/W7TI5Z7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Riiil4y.jpg So the moss is well established at this point, but the orchid I chose (Encyclia Polybulbon) is not doing well. The light is too bright and it's too humid. I'm thinking about swapping it for Den. Cuthbersonii or a mini bulbophyllum. Here's my second setup. The enclosure is a glass betta tank I bought in Taiwan. I have Aerangis fastuosa (2}, Aerangis punctata and Aerangis fastuosa X citrata. http://i.imgur.com/UAe3umq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NoORbA0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7ByXUiV.jpg |

Both looking good. Hope you find something that works better for you in the first one, but it looks like it's doing OK to me.
