Fantastic! What are the little slat boxes made from? I tried making something like that with "craft sticks," but they are too small and rot too quickly.

Those are wood orchid baskets, sometimes called vanda baskets. I have some made from cedar, teak, cypress and mahogany. They're available from most orchid supply stores. I buy them locally. Even Home Depot carries them down here in Florida. I grow outdoors in South Florida where baskets are commonly used because it often rains every day during the summer and the roots will rot if orchids are in pots. I don't think they would be practical for growing indoors or in areas with less humidity.
