Psychopsis Mariposa

This just recently opened on the 18th. This is the second bloom since I've owned it. Flower is much bigger and deeper in color than the first one. Must be all the juicing

If you don't own a Psychopsis, you should. They bloom all year and literally look like butterflies[mariposa for non Spanish speakers] floating in your garden at all times.

Beautiful!! I have a psychopsis that's in spike right now and growing like crazy. Can't wait for the first flower.

I keep all 4 of my Psychopsis in sphagnum moss. I also keep them moist and never let them dry out. I superthrive and fertilize on strict schedules. They also get a good amount of sunlight.

Oh interesting! I'm doing a complete opposite, lol its in bark and pretty dry. I also don't water it much over the winter as I read that they need a winter brake to flower. No wonder I get no flowers;)

Beautiful! I adore Psychopsis, I think they're among my favorite orchids. Mine (Psychopsis Butterfly) has 4 blooming spikes now, and they really do look like little butterflies floating around.

Mine is in bark in a net pot, which is sitting inside a slightly larger transparent plastic pot. I water it quite frequently and often leave a little water in the saucer (with the net pot it dries fast, but overall the bark stays quite moist), and it gets fertilizer 3 of 4 waterings. It sits in a south facing window, so gets a good amount of sun! (Note that I am in somewhat northern Europe though, so the sun is not as strong)

In my case, each new bulb starts a spike within 2-3 months of maturing (so somewhere in the summer-early fall). The first, and oldest, spike has been blooming for the past 4 years.

Oh wow! That is awesome! Well I have had some great growths on my guy, fingers crossed it will give me a flower this season ;) I think the maturest new growth is about 3mo old.
