Peloric Phal....or is it extra mutated??

I picked this up the other day because, while I actually quite like the flowers and I know they might change with next blooming... it was the actual plant/foliage which was interesting to me.

It looks like it's split the crown into two, and the leaves are really odd, very pointy, some look like they were supposed to be two leaves, ie seem to have two points to them...

Has this plant got many many issues??! anyone seen/have anything like this at all?

Interesting, I've seen orchids put out various strange spikes and growths that can't seem to decide what they want to be, but this one is a first for me. The growth on the right side in the first picture looks like it may be a terminal spike (when a spike comes out of the crown and the crown can no longer grow). Regardless, it has at least one good crown if not two!

Oh yes the pic makes it look like that eh? It's actually two leaves! That looks like the main crown, with two small leaves and the crown on the left has one small new leaf which looks quite bunched up and probably won't come out smooth.

Think this wee guy is having an identity crisis! I do love an oddball!

I've seen plenty of peloric plants, never any with gnarly leaves. Are you sure it didn't get too close to a biohazard?

If I had to guess:

Peloric? Yes.

Weird leaves? My guess (and it is JUST a guess) is that the strange growth habit of the leaves is due to some hormone treatment, possibly during the mericloning process.

Cool!

Hmm... I would keep that plant isolated until it starts behaving itself. I'm a hypochondriac when it comes to my orchids, and those leaves could be a sign of virus. Not saying that they are, but they could be.

I have a possible virus case on my hands myself, so I've been browsing the web for pictures and facts about orchid viruses. All I can say is; it's very unhealthy to do this, because you see virus everywhere!

But yeah, keep an extra eye on it, and congrats on getting a peloric Phal.

It's beautiful and something else. If I happen to see one like yours, I'd get one. Do you have new pic of full bloom moth flowers? I'd love to see that. That's pretty color

Wait, that is what peloric is? Those flowers? Pretty sure I saw one at Walmart one time, but I just assumed the flowers hadnt opened up all the way for some reason...
