Is this a Spike?
 

Sorry guys, but this is my first bloom on a Vanda... Is this definitely a spike? It looks different than the roots I have gotten and hadn't gotten any between leaves. I got this Vanda in Aug 2013 out of bloom and have never seen the flowers (V. Manuvadee x Gordon Dillon). I really hope it is :D Thanks!

I don't grow vandas, but it looks like one to me.

Spike it is! Congratulations! Keep the conditions stable and try not to relocate it. Otherwise it may abort.

For some reason my V. Roberts Delight black looked like it was starting a spike about 5 months ago and it halted. It is still green but no longer growing...

I ended up keeping my two vandas from HD after the flowers were gone.
They are both still sitting inside the acrylic container they came in. Watering them is a pain in the butt as I have to take them to the bath, fill the vase with fertilizer water, sit them for a long time, then drain the water, and place them back to sunny window.
So far, they are both working on the third new leaves under my care and the roots are going nuts in those vase! :)

I hope to see mine spike soon after all this work I'm putting in. haha

Lol. Yes I have 6 vandas now and they are by far the most time consuming!! I had spikes on my ascocenda constantly but this looked different. I actually grow Vandas in East and a few in Southeast windows so am very happy that is enough light, my spikes confirm that!
I am happy you decided to keep them but if you ever change your mind.. :evil: I do hope you get spikes, I am a newb at vandas just started them last year so if I can do it so can you! They do take up space/time but they are rewarding!!

Even if they do bloom in the spring or later, I will eventually give them up because they are now slowly creeping out of the tall vase. lol
Would you still take them when they are bigger??

I like both of mine, but that pink one was quite something! :)

Man, I wish I had a greenhouse! especially for big plants like vandas. I wish I could just hang them up in the air and not worry about moving them around to water or taking up space.
Oh, well...

About two years ago, I bought this gorgeous ascocenda Princess Mikasa (?) white in two spikes.
It was so beautiful and flowers were huge for type while the plant wasn't that big.
At the time, I did not think of vase culture and tossed after the flowers finished.
I have never seen such nice white vandas and miss it!
