1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
it's me again, it's been awhile. Hope everyone is having a spunky weekend. my question is on a tag that was in a TJ orchid I got the other day. I got what looked like a lc. Or c.. When I looked on tag it actually says pot. (The actual tag goes like this POT. TRIPLE LOVE 'NN'). I try ed to look it up but couldnt find anything on it. So I tryet to lower case in different places like you would see on a normal tag, but could not get info. anyone know anything about this gal. It is quite cute with its 3 little blooms. Than you in advance. Ps. I am sorry I havenot completed some of my previous posts, will get to them this weekend. I will get to all that have posted to my threads. After 2 years of being out of work, I finally am a normal tax paying citizen again. Just been trying to pin a good schedule down for the orchids. Thank you for being patient. |
This is Potinara Triple Love and the cultivar is 'NN'. It is also know as Rth. Triple Love
It is Rth. Love-Love x Ctt. Secret Love It is a member of the Cattleya family and looks like it takes standard Catt care. I could find anything using Google. The above information is from orchidWiz. |
Further info on Rth.= Rhyncattleanthe
Rhyncattleanthe is a hybrid genus comprising of Cattleya, Guarianthe and Rhyncholaelia. Guarianthe is comprised of species aurantiaca, bowringiana, patinii, skinneri they were separated from the bifoliate Cattleyas in 2003. Rhyncholaelia genus was created from Brassavola by splitting off two species. digbyana & glauca in 1918 As Carrie stated they are a member of the Cattleya family and takes standard Catt care. Judi |
Hello Cbuchman,
Thank you for the look into the orchid wiz. I wasn't sure what was going on, most of my other orchids gave up their lineage at some point. Now as far as the cultivar 'NN', how and where would I find this kind of info, or is it only available to the local societies? It would be very nice to have something to reference the different cultivars. Again thank you and I hope you have wonderful Sunday. |

I have many unawarded plants that have cultivar names assigned by the breeder. I'm not sure if these are registered anywhere - perhaps someone else knows the answer to that one. |
Did this Orchid have a nursery name? Thanks, Jack
|
I recall the NN stands for Newman's nursery. Newtons?
Something like that |
"Potinara, abbreviated Pot in the horticultural trade,[1] is the nothogenus comprising those intergeneric hybrids of orchids which have Brassavola, Cattleya, Laelia and Sophronitis as parent genera."
