Thunbergia mysorensis - It ain't an orchid, ...

... But, I like it any way.

I have a Bucida buceras, a Geometry Tree, in my front yard:

I have a friend that has several Thunbergia mysorensis vines [Indian Clock Vine, or Brick and Butter Flowers] growing upon several of the trees on his property. When I first saw the Geometry tree I immediately imagined it with the T. mysorensis' growing upon it.
It will grow up the trunk sending runners out the branches, then drop racemes with clusters of flowers on the ends from the branches.

Last fall, I obtained cuttings from him and set them to rooting.
I lost all but one of them.
Then, last spring I ran across a well developed rooted cutting at a benefit plant sale.
I snapped it up.
Both cuttings have been planted at the base of the Geometry tree.
The cutting I rooted is struggling.
But, the one I got at the plant sale is growing like mad.
It has reached the lowest layer of branches, has dropped a raceme and is producing its first flowers:

I'm ecstatic and can't wait for it to get large enough to start dropping long strings of flowers from out on the branches.

I'll have more pics of orchids soon.
It's been a bit quiet lately as far as new orchid blooms go.
But, there are several getting close to opening.
Pics when they do.

You've started putting thoughts in my head:
"Beware of what you wish for."

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll need a whip and a chair to keep it in line.
