Do Eurychone Rothschiliana x sib Have Speckled Leaves?

Eurychone Rothschiliana x sib, Can anyone tell me do the leaves usually have speckles on them. I ordered one of these and when it came in I didn't like the looks of it thinking something was wrong with it. I emailed the grower that I purchased it from and they told me it was speckles on the leaves and the orchid was just fine.

I have two plants of this species.
The tiny speckles on the backside of the leaves are natural part of this plant.

I see some larger black (also appear indented) spots are probably some minor damage of some sort.

The slight ruffle or winkly look on the edge and near the tip of the leaves are also natural for this species.

Overall, your plant looks fine to me.
I'm a clean freak, so you can trust me on this. lol

Oh, by the way, picture #3 shows snail damage.
Nothing you can do about it.
Check the plant at night to see if anything crawls about on the exposed top portion of the mix.
or better yet, the next time you water, soak the entire pot for an hour or so.
The snail, if it's there, will either come out or die in there. lol

Thanks NYC that puts my mind at ease some. I was so worried when I seen the bigger spots on this orchid. I know the tips on the arial roots were a sign it was health but I also know Black spots are not good. I am still really new and get freaked out yet. So again thanks for the help. I will kill the dang snails to. Sure don't need them pests.

I have one of these as well and mine has the tiny spots on the undersides of the leaves. Also, there is an internet orchid species photos encyclopedia (iopse ) with a HUGE database of species. You can simply search "iopse" and the name of the species and usually find it directly through google. Anyway, these have a soecies description as well as photos and a key to some general growing information.

I agree the small speckles are normal, and the leaves can have an uneven tone and slightly ruffled edges, etc. The larger spots are not normal, but as long as they aren't spreading I don't think they are anything to worry about, nor would I see them as a serious issue to complain about with a newly purchased plant. If only perfect plants could be sold then thousands would be thrown away regularly and the few perfect ones would be extremely expensive.

Thank You Missanna,
This information will help me a lot as I search what my orchids like and how to care for them if I have more problems.
