Another one of them Trader Joe's NOIDs

It would be great to know the hybrid or species (doubt it) name, but I'm not even sure of its genus since I'm still very much a beginner. I'm not familiar with this kind of orchid at all so I'm really just trying to figure out culture here.
Not sure if the pictures accurately capture the colors, but the petals are actually more cream/pale yellow than white. My guess is … Oncidium?? |
It's an oncidium intergeneric hybrid of some kind.
It reminds me of a Beallara Tahoma Glacier. I've seen some that look similar, though this hybrid usually has much larger pink spots and longer petals. I suspect it's a Beallara. |
Sticking my neck out here but I think, and was the first thing I thought of, is that this is some type of hybrid made with odontoglossum crispum. Possibily a Odontioda which is Odontoglossum x Cochlioda.
If it is, its a cool to intermediate grower that requires med light. Here's a link with further info on culture. - Oncidium Culture Hope that helps!! Judi |
Cool, I haven't heard of any of those!
I forgot to mention the spots are really more of an oxblood color, at least a little darker than the darkest Tahoma Glaciers I saw in a quick Google search. But if there's a range of colors, maybe that doesn't matter… Thanks a lot for the suggestions and the link! |

With that said, TG can have some variations. |
This is such a beautiful plant. I wish my Trader Joes sold orchids other than Phals
It could be an Oncidium of some sort. :) |

Believe that is the Bel. Glacier

Thisis a well formed flower and probably a fairly new hybrid.
It is not Tacoma Glacier, as that orchid is a easily seen green over the white with many more spots from the center to the end of the petals. Coloration is much closer to Dgmra. WinterWonderland, which is pure white. It also can not be either since both are much thinner petals and there is clear space between each. This flower is very full and you can not see between the petals and septals. A very nice flower that may be seen identified later. It is too nice not to remake. |

I'm still trying to figure out how often to water this thing. I think it's potted in Promix, which seems like it stays moist so I've been stingy with the water, but the pseudobulbs are starting to wrinkle a little. Guess that's why I'm still hunting down an ID for it. :) |
