Catasetum in wooden slat boxes

So I have been looking around online while enjoying my 1 day off before summer classes begin. and I noticed a catasetum growing in a slat wooden box (vanda box?) My question is has anyone tried this and does it work well? I have seen this before on ebay but never thought to try it until now. I am concerned with the moss falling out through the slats.
But I also have a SVO mormode and SVO after dark that have so many roots I cant fit them in a regular pot! Maybe this could be a interesting to try.

It works great if you can provide enough humidity and water to get good growth during the summer. It retains more moisture than a mount, but less than a pot.

Interesting I may give it a try with my two big ones.

Also I added some lava rock of decent size for stabilizing the plant and for extra weight to keep it from swinging all over the place in the wind even in my greenhouse they are swaying. Dont want to come in to a busted up catasetum and mormode that are so fat and happy.
