I was in contact with Glenn Martin, the president of the Maine Orchid Society. They have been running a drive to get Orchid Wiz at a pretty substantial discount. He told me that anyone interested in buying the software would be welcome to participate!
Presently they have approximately 10 people paid up for the software. With this many people the price is $213.00, a discount of 30% !

They are trying to get a total of 20 people, this would bring the price to $153.00, a discount of 50% !!

What they are asking is that you send a check for $213 with your information. If they get 20 people paid, they will send you a check for the difference with your software. There is a Form you need to fill out and include with your check.

Having used the trial version of the software, I can say that the My Plants Journal (database) included with the software makes it well worth your money, IMHO. And at $213.00 it's still a great deal. If it turns out that they get a total of 20 people, then all the better for all who participate!

Antonio, I can see if they would be interested in doing a PayPal transaction.
Remember, there needs to be a minimum of 20 people to get the lowest price. You'll need to pay 213 in advance. The Society will refund the difference if they get the better discount. They could refund the money to your PayPal account.

these days most AOS people may find they need both wiz and AQ plus bec the AOS and the WIZ been having a battle over the pictures.There's been a lack of cooperation between the 2 keeping the data bases current and congruous

And you still have to pay for updates every year.

First year's maintenance/updates are included in the purchase. Thereafter, a fee applies.

well it is a business, i don't think they did it from the bottom of their heart. they need to keep squeezing some more somehow. (not against this practice)

i think 153 is a good price for it, i don't want to spend 213 on it and see if i get a reimburse. my form of payment will be CC, and no i don't have or like paypal at all, as i was a subject of fraud, and paypal looked the other way (that was many years ago). AND I ENDED UP LOOSING MONEY.

without a paypal account how can they reimburse me back? i am not opening it sorry , as it is a matter of principles for me.

again 29x is just WAAAAY too expensive for bits and bytes, 213 is still expensive, 153 is far more down to earth for what it is, considering that their business model could/will squeeze more money on a yearly basis. i will keep it up to date for sure. but you also have to keep in mind that internet provides a lot of information, and then there is people who can look up something for you in both orchid wiz or aq+ , some people here got the software at a very affordable price. and some others (like me) waits for a good offering that matches the prices we have seem around, (no one wants to pay more, and everything is known in the long term).

best way to increase their sales is to bring down the cost, and find ways to have customers get their annual fee paid. initial cost this days are usually down, and companies look to encourage the subscription model to their clients, as a constant cash cow.

You'd think they would take a lesson from Adobe. Adobe's sales of Photoshop have plummeted since 30$ alternatives have been released that are nearly as powerful.

Wish I could but still to expensive on a college kids budget that would be a tremendous help. Unfortunately textbooks are not cheap. Thanks for letting us know though!
