A Small Oncidium?
2 Attachment(s)
Can anyone help me identify this Colombian orchid? My first thought is an Oncidium species. It is very small. The flower is only 1.5 cm across.

It does look like an Oncidium. However I only have a few hybrid Oncidium. I hope an Oncidium expert will chime in. I'd like to know what this is--it is exciting to see an orchid in its natural habitat.

It's so small!! I've only seen a few hybrids that are this size. The pollen parents of Oncidium Twinkle are from that part of the world, but look nothing like this little guy.

Looks more like a Cyrtochilum to me. Even though your spotting looks darker...maybe meirax.
|
Cyrtochilum is a member of the Oncidium family and was once included in the genus.
I agree, I think this does look like a brighter colored version of cyrtochilum meirax. |
Thank you. Cyrtochilum meirax does indeed seem to be it including the small size of 1.5 cm.
