Our new shade ... thingy

Here are a few (Ok, a lot) pictures of the shade structure that my sweety and one of her colleagues put up on a weekend not too long ago.
You have to keep in mind that most of that was also crammed into our two bdrm apt for longer than I care to remember, lol.
Anyhow, here it is and I am so proud of my sweety for doing such a fantastic job, "My wife ROCKS!"

Are those pier blocks attached to the ground somehow? It looks great but I'd be seriously worried that it will up and walk away if you get a good wind storm.

Just something to think about. It looks great, and I bet your plants will love it.

That was one of her concerns as well, about the wind, but we have had a fairly heavy storm come through here in the last month and it stood up really well and didn't rock an inch.
Those are concrete anchors that you can get at the hardware store for around $6 or so and are heavy as heck.
We shall see how they adjust to the move and hopefully I will not lose too many, but I think rather that they will thrive instead of croak on me.
:D

Very cool set-up, and a nice group of plants and pictures. Just out of curiosity, what's your average humidity like outdoors where you grow?

We live in Vista, which is in the San Diego area of California and are plagued by those blasted Santa Anna winds that suck the moisture right out of the air at times.
Even though we only live about twenty miles from the Pacific ocean we still get lots of "dry" spells here and so I have to sometimes water twice ... maybe three times a day.
Just break out the hose and go nuts, .
It really depends on a day to day basis here.

... it's on the list to ask the boss when she gets home ;)

I think your shade thingy is so cool it needs a cool name to go with it ..
:hmm How about a pergola :)
I love the 'parrot' accent ;)
Great display of plantage !
