One leaf has quickly turned yellow. The orchid is otherwise heathy with growing roots and flowers. What could be the cause?Attachment 87503

I wouldn't panick as the plant looks healthy and established enough. Yellowing leaves are of concern when these are the newest top leaves.

Is your Phal exposed to a lot of direct sun? If so, this might have caused that leaf to die.

Leaves also drop naturally as they age. I notice a root coming out of the joint. Sometimes that's what happens, the root grows through and the leaf dies off. That's perfectly OK.

If you keep water off the leaves and out of direct sun, I think you're safe. :goodluck:

I have had my phalenopsis for 3 years. I water it with ice every week. It blooms every year, but now a lower leaf has turned yellow. Other posts tell me that it's probably just age. My question is, do I cut the dead leaf off or leave it to fall naturally?

Cyn, Please search this board to learn about ice watering. though it seems to be working for you, it is not recommended.

I agree that one yellow leaf is not a big deal. Just cut it off or wait for it to drop off.

I notice a lot of roots coming out near the base of that root. I've had leaves do this because of the roots cutting through it's base. Nothing to worry about if that's the cause, it's usually only the odd leaf that does that.

I agree with others that the plant looks overall very healthy.
