A puzzle - Den flower in growing cane
 

Hi eveyone, my Dendrobium Spring Dream 'Apollon' has presented me with a bit of a puzzle. There is a flower on a new cane. The two new canes started growing about march time and about 3 weeks ago, I noticed a white bump on one which, over the next week or so, developed into a flower - has anyone else had this? (I mean, I'm not complaining, but I've only ever had flowers come on old canes before)

Can't answer the question but that is a pretty bloom.

Just go along with it I'd say :) I have a D. Nobile that started producing keikis on the new cane, and have 4-5 flowers coming out of the base of those keikis...

I hope you have someone who can give you some scientific explanation for whatever is happening to your plant :)

Thanks folks. It'll be interesting to see if any more flowers come up or whether it's just this one!
