How do you grow your Thunia?
Do you take the canes out of the pot over winter? I have seen a number of different recommendations but I'm not sure what is the best option for the plant I have which is enormous. Currently it is filling an 18 inch pot and is nearly up to my chest.

I've got a small keiki more than 10 years ago. It has grown into a cane of almost one meter. I grow it in a plastic pot with a mix of sand, expanded clay and slate, bark and peat. I repot every other year.
During the growth period I water and fertilize intensely like catasetums. From November to April watering is very restricted. The plant remains in the pot. As the growths cycle is much the same as for catasetums, they spend the winter side by side. Does your plant have several canes? |

Yes it has quite a few canes. Do you repot before or after winter? I'd say this one hasn't been repotted in quite a few years so definitely due for it.

I've just done it, in March. The new lead is 1 centimeter.

OK so I guess maybe I should wait until September or there abouts when the new leads are starting?
