Onc Sunlight 'Hilo Honey'

Name is a pretty good description of the look and scent of this plant. Ill get a full plant pic when able and when it's more into bloom. The plant is not big. It is only 3 p bulbs and not a fast grower except when it comes to the spike. The spike is pushing maybe 3 feet! Heavily branched, too. It smells delicious like honey and vanilla.

The look is a bit different than last year. The lip is more yellow this time than before. Is superior to last years which is when I got it in bloom. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/18/ypy6ysar.jpg

That's what good culture does! Looks great.

 Gorgeous! I want one! ;D
Good growing!

It is different. I mean of course I haven't seen yours last year, but these usually have bright yellow with white lip.
Yours got some dark hue on the flowers and some yellow on the lips.

gotta love the fragrance of this plant! :)

My oncidium sunlight "NN" is in bloom. looks and smells different than Hilo Honey, but these are some nice looking&smelling orchids!

Cold not agree more... It projects its scent well, too. It makes me think of a tropical island every time I smell it.

So true!

By the way, I've had a few different varieties of sunlight. All with some kind of spotts.

I only kept "NN" because it is mini size, yet the scent is the best! also, it survived on my super hot window last summer, so it is a keeper for me.

I never tried "Hilo Honey" as I read they are cool grower. but it is still sunlight grex, I'm not so sure any more.

What would you say about its heat tolerance?
I know you live up in Colorado and all, but...

Oh I hadn't heard one way or another. Well we had some seriously scorching heat this past summer and this plant did fine. I lost tolumnia and a few oncs from a few heat waves back to back where we shot past 100f every day. In full sun and such low humidity only the strong survived. My 4n max ten of course grew like a damn weed but never flowered.

If it needs cold, it must not need too much. Lowest temps I get are 68 in the grow area. So it seems pretty versatile.

Oh, thanks, that is good to know.
So much wrong information around.

Now I can happily pick one up next time I see one of these plants. whenever that would be. :)
