Help needed to ID this plant.
2 Attachment(s)
I purchased this plant from a friend who was giving up on her collection. I knew that the Tag was lost but I bought it anyway beacuse it is so pretty. She remembers that it had "chocolate drop' in its cross.
The flowers are not nearly as dark as 'Choc. Drop' they are pinkish/orange. The plant is bi-foliate. Any help with the Genus and or Grex would be appreciated. Cheers I know that it is not C Choc. Drop, But has this somewhere in the Hybrid. |
Wow that's gorgeous! Can't help with a name tho, sorry.

There's a Cattleya Chocolate Drop, but I don't think it looks like it.
It's in the Catts anyway but I don't know the alliance enough to be definitive in any way. |
Nope, it's not a Chocolate Drop...I know because mine is BLOOD RED! Sure is pretty, though...BettyE

Could be Lc. Wrigleyi but not the 'blue' breeding.
L. anceps x C. bowringiana |
I wrote to the Nursery where I was told the plant had been purchased and they replied that it is
C. intermedia X c. bowringiana ' coeuelesems'. Good enough I said. They do not have a picture of this in their catalogue!! and I cannot find one on the internet so that I could compare. Do any of you know, or have a picture of this flower? or tell me where it is pictured. Thanks |
If, this is the crossing, the registered name is;
Cattlianthe Chris McHenry. Google Image this exact name & you'll find flowers very similar in shape but not color. The is certainly due the variety of intermedia parent used imo. |
Roy, I thank you for your help. I had a look at the Picture of Cattlianthe Chris McHenry, and the flower in shape, and the long column certainly looks like mine. Guess I will just have to catalogue it as this with a question mark until I come accross one with my coloration.

erna, you could be waiting a very long time. To get another one the same color as yours would be challanging unless it was a division of yours. If its an entire clone, you may never get one the same or close.

Ouch! not so good news.
We have an AOS judged show coming up early next year. If the plant is in bloom I will enter it with this name and see what they have to say about it. Other than this the poor plant seems to be doomed except that it is a prolific bloomer and the flowers are very pretty so I shall enjoy them. Thanks again |
