Paph. Holiglory x Paph. charlesworthii "thanksgiving"
Hi everyone :)
In the other thread we discussed getting this orchid. I have chronic daily headaches and migraines, I was in bed sense six hours ago with a headache and woke up to this orchid in the kitchen: http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02582.jpg http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02583.jpg http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02584.jpg I am going to figure out more care tomorrow with my freetime at school, I hope I can keep it alive as it was $27 ;) It looks pretty good health wise to me so far, I will inspect the roots later on once I get the soil right and everything. Any care suggestions are appreciated :) |
I'm sorta new to orchids, especially slippers, but I just had to comment anyway and say THAT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
|
Beautiful!
|
I have better-gro special orchid mix, for all epiphyte orchids and it says paphs right on it :) I will use it and maybe mix in some coconut coir.
It is a very beautiful plant :) |
Great buy! I love charlesworthii and I can see a lot of it in here. Good luck!

Great color and it must have made you feel better :)

It did help me get through the rest of the day :) Almost brought me to tears.
The longer I look at this plant, the more I love it :D |
Here it is after I repotted it with new soil and checked its roots over:
http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02603.jpg http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02604.jpg http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02605.jpg http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02606.jpg http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/DSC02607.jpg The soil it was in was pretty good quality that I could tell. It was a really soft loose mix of what looked like wood and some other decomposing stuff. I think what is called humus or something? I put it in about a 40:60 or 50:50 mix of the coconutcoir/fiber, and bark/orchid specialty better-gro mix that I use for everything else orchid. It said great for paphs on it. No root rot that I could tell, the roots were a bit stiff to being moved but I didn't really test their softness, as I didn't want to break the hundreds of tiny hairs on it. Hope I am doing it correctly :) ;) |
