Is this bad
 

A friend of mine has a lady slipper with one leaf turning brown, and another with odd looking wrinkles on it.
Is this anything to worry about?

Three things come to mind:
1) roots are bad
2) not getting enough water
3) salt build-up or nutrient imbalances.

If it is one of these things it can be fixed.
My (short) experience has been with phals.
Now to learn something new (I hope my head dont explode from all the new knowledge).

The corrugated appearance of the leaf in the first pic is perfectly normal for many hybrid Maudiae-types. Nothing to worry about at all in terms of plant health. It seems to happen most often in plants with thick heavy rigid leaves, possibly a side-effect of breeding for robust plants and certain aspects of flower quality, or in tetraploid plants.

The second pic with the brown/yellow edge where the leaf was cut doesn't look like anything to worrry about either, unless it is spreading rapidly. Especially if it is an older leaf I wouldn't worry about it. A picture of the whole plant could help determine if is anything more serious.

My overall impression from the pics is that it is a healthy plant. My only advice would be that if it hasn't been repotted in the last year it is over-due.

After reading Leafmite's post I was going to repot this weekend.
Your post tells me I am headed in the correct direction.

Update: The leaf with the brown on it has slightly more brown, not a lot, so we left it for now. I think all is OK.
When it has lost its bloom I think it will be time to repot.
For now I think all is well, but will keep an eye on the brown just to be sure.
The rest of the plant looks fine, but the small pot is mostly full. Maybe time to divide it soon.
