New leaf old spike
Hi all I have a phal that finished blooming a few months ago. I have never cut the spike off because it is still healthy and green, but no new buds or blooms are forming. I have noticed a lot of new root growth and a new leaf. Should I cut the spike so the plan can concentrate on the leaf and roots or just leave it as it is? Thanks!

i would, but some people dont...suit yourself.....i think the plant gets stronger without haveing to maintain an old spike....gl

I agree with dounoharm. I always cut my spikes when they are done blooming even if they are still green. I want my plant to put its energy into new leaves and roots. It's up to you though. Some people leave them until the spike turns brown. Good luck!

Personally i always cut off bloomed out spikes... good luck in which ever you may choose. :-)

I used to keep spikes but the plants would only make few more blooms (2-4) if any at all. I cut spikes off now and the plant makes new spikes when it is ready. New spikes put out more flowers than before.
