Orchids in Bloom: Lepanthes niesseniae

WhiteRabbit 06-30-2012 11:01 PM

Oh wow! What fabulous little blooms! I love the color! Great looking plant, and fabulous photos!

The flowers are riding on the leaves like a magic carpet in flight....the shiny waxy petals give it a yummy texture added to a bright festive color

Thanks, Sonya. Your kindness is always unsurpassed, and thank you, Bud, for your usual creative comments.

Just keep on showing us beautiful orchid blooms and as well photographed as you always present it to us....and I will never run out of descriptive adjectives....

I believe you, Bud, and will try to give you every opportunity to use as many of them as possible.

Ron, what temperatures do you think are suitably cool? On Orquideas del Valle they list this as warm-intermediate, but your opinion seems to keep them cooler. Beautiful photos and plant by the way. I can't thank people like you enough for posting entire-plant images as well-- makes it easier to enjoy the flower in context.

Thanks for the nice compliments, friend, and thanks, too, for looking and commenting. There are some like this that are listed as W-I that do very well for me in cool temps as long as the humidity is kept higher, but there are some that definitely do not, especially some of the smaller ones. It seems to me that finding the right amount of light and giving them good humidity and air movement is more important than the temperature with a lot of them.

I remember how frustrating it was when I started to grow orchids, to see flowers that I liked and then to din out when I ordered the plant that it was far too large for me to grow.
