Should I remove Keiki from struggleng Den phal?

I have the original zombie Den phal- it has gone to the brink SO many times and bounced back, refusing both to die and to thrive. It has also thrown a load of keikis, most of which I have removed to try and encourage 'proper'- ie sympodial growth. I've left one on though, should I remove that one too, or should I just let it do what it wants to do on the basis that the removal has never really stimulated growth before?
Thanks for thoughts!
Kay

How big is it, how many roots does it have, and how long are the roots?

The keiki or the mother plant? The keiki has about 8 roots, all around 1" long. The zombie mother plant probably has more, but we're not talking a fabulously healthy root system here! My main question I guess is that is it necessarily bad to let a keiki grow on a weak plant, will it divert energy from the plant- I don't care about the keiki surviving, I'm more interested in the zombie plant of doom!
Thanks!

I think the keiki is good enough to come off the mother plant.

I really have no idea what the mother plant looks like or what it's going through to give any kind of advice on that. It would be great if you had a pic.
