Neostylis temperatures
 

I was wondering what highs and lows are optimal for a Neostylis. I was originally thinking nothing below 60F, but am now questioning that assumption. Your thoughts?

I've got a Lou Sneary and a Pinky. They seem to be quite temperature tolerant from high 90's in the summer to low 50's in the winter.

I've grown mine outside here in Colorado during the summer, which easily drops into the 50s without any issue. In fact it gave me a spike and a vibrantly colored one at that!

36 F - 100 F easily.

Been doing this for 2 - 3 yrs already, maybe even for a bit more - lost track. No problems whatsoever. Root growth up the wazoo. Blooms and everything too.

Ah - good info, I have wondered about temps for this myself. I have grown mine outdoors spring, summer into fall, so I know it's taken some heat, and down to at least 50, if not even a bit lower.

mine have been outside in 90+ temps down to around 40. But mind you the temps have a lot to do with how much humidity and light are associated with them also. just having a temp range isnt complete or good enough information on how your are going to do. If you grow them in 40 degrees with wet feet high humidity and not enough light they will rot and if you just give them the light the wet feet and high humidity become allies. if you grow them in 90 degrees you will use the same light but more water and higher humidity also is needed to provide external cooling for the leaves. As growing them 90 deg in shade with the same amount of water no air flow with stifling humidity, the plant will rot.

So you always need to know more ;) and the less you know the better off you were but its too late now bec you know that

Lol... Thank you RJ. I understand exactly what you are saying and those items are other good considerations for those who may not be aware of them. Glad you posted it as I'm sure others will read this thread and just run with the temp info.

Watering, humidity, light and air flow are always a consideration for me personally. I just wasn't sure about temperature extremes that we're safe for it.

I have grown them here in So. California out doors all year. Our winter night temp frequently drops to 50s and sometimes 40s. It doesn't seem to affect them.
However, when temps are low, I tend to grow them dry. Also, even in winter, the day time temps here are usually in 60s and 70s.
