catasetum serdang oo oo x catasetum penang red
 

hi, just to share this one. Catasetum serdang oo oo however is unregistered till current date. brought to my attention by one of my forum friends when he pointed it out to me. tried searching RHS and nothing came up. i had email asking the orchid breeder who gave me the name, so far about 1 week plus no reply yet. will update if i had any further info on this one, while the meantime...enjoy the bloom

and it has been two years since the orchid breeder pass me the name till now, 2 years and still unregistered?? possible?

Beautiful dark coloured flowers. I would ask the breeder for the parents. Looks a bit like Mary Spencer (pileatum x trulla) or Joao Stivalli to me.

update on this hybrid nomenclature
 

finally manage to get hold of the orchid hybridizer today. it seems like the actual name for this serdang oo oo is Catasetum jumbo pearl ' serdang oo oo'.
they were to register the ctsm penang red x ctsm tenebrosum (now known as ctsm jumbo pearl) but were one step behind. so eventually this particular cross is named Catasetum jumbo pearl 'serdang oo oo'.

So it contains tenebrosum. Many thanks for your update.

welcome. so since it is ctsm jumbo pearl 'serdang oo oo' x ctsm penang, after done some searching on RHS, this hybrid is ctsm redland black cherry (ctsm jumbo pearl x penang)

Great looking flowers. Good color and great substance. Did they flatten out at all?

the labellum maintain the cup shape appearance, like the pileatum.
too bad it's a short live spike, some pesky UFO got all the pollina 'fired' yesterday.
