Vanilla - damaged, regrow?

I have a vanilla plant, the terminal bud got damaged ( I think from cold) Any other plant I know it would just start growing from the next bud, but it doesn't seem to be trying to grow from another bud?

Anyone experienced a similar situation and know what it will do or if I need to do something to stimulate it?

Give it time, it will eventually send a new growth out from one of the lower leaf axils.

That's what I figured but it's been longer then expected. Guess I'll just need to be more patient. Thanks.

Vanilla must grow a lot before doing something interesting. Give it time.

And don't be frightened if parts rot or get dry, it happens (you only made a mistake), if you correct the origin of the problem, it'll cure just fine. They are really forgiving (planifolia is at least).

Mine is now about 25 years old, and it survived anything I've thrown at it. :)

How is your plant getting on ? Maybe an increase in watering might persuade it to do something. They are thirsty plants and even in winter mine will have a growth spurt if I forget and am generous with the watering!
Now it is spring I have increased the watering as the days are getting longer and warmer.

Just repotted mine, and it's growing again after 3 weeks of deep thoughts. Once I can get the pelargoniums out, it'll have the sunny place of choice (warm, sunny, west orientation, near the window).

On the watering department, I'd be cautious in winter, there's a "too many too much" limit. But out of winter, it never feels thirst. ;)
