Mounting on different kinds of medias

Hey everyone I am doing a talk on mounting orchids and I am trying to think of unusual things you can mount orchids on. I have natural woods that have been cleaned. I have cork bark. Slabs of wood, Any other nteresting ways to mount orchids?

I saw a pic on one these boards where someone had mounted one on a tire...no moss or anything...looked very happy....Jean

I don't have any ground-breaking thoughts, just my opinion. I really love tree fern, espectially mounting on tree fern columns. I like how the plant can encircle the column and make a natural looking, yet semi-symmetrical display. I also think that tree fern works great because the roots grow into it easily and quickly. It's just great stuff!

Thanks for your ideas I will share them with my Orchid Society!

I use grapevine wreaths, bamboo ,tree fern, vanda slabs, cork, coconut halves, palm tree frond bases, driftwood all shapes & sizes, cholla wood (castus skeleton) plastic fence mesh with moss attached.....if it's a possibility I use it.

Here are a couple pictures that if you want them to show you may use them. I can email to you if you want just PM me. I showed the early pic then a mature 1 1/2 yr later on both the tree fern and grapevine ( I added moss into the grapevine to hold more moisture.)

I have become a great fan of pressed (untreated)cork board. The one one buys at office depot or simillar store in sheets.
I cut the size I need, place alittle moss (or not, if the plant does not require it)and tie the plant with monofilament.I like this type of cork, because its more neat and regular in size, and I can fit more side by side in my light garden.
