Zygo Bloom Upside Down
 

Hi everyone! It's that time again when my zygo blooms. Strangely, the last bloom and this bloom produce the flowers upside down. Any idea why?

Just a guess here...I don't know if I read it here or elsewhere, but someone mentioned twisted blooms due to the light source and that it's important to have the blooms reaching up to the light source and to maintain the same location otherwise the blooms will twist. :twocents::twocents::twocents:

Interesting, however the blooms are reaching up towards the light. There is a T5 above the zygo (hence the light shining on the top bloom). Also, the zygo has been in the same place (an indoor greenhouse) for the past two years. Of course, I believe the blooms were upside down (lip on top, petals below) last year as well.

Have you rotated the Zygo at all during watering or anything like that? This will cause the same thing if the spike was rotated to an exagerrated different orientation. Any in spike, I take note of the direction the plant is pointing prior to watering or moving, and put it back the same way. This reduces any twisting. But that would be my guess.

Zxyqu--Yes (someone on gardenweb also suggested this today). I believe I did rotate it once, because the buds were pressing against the back corner of the greenhouse. That makes sense! Thanks!

Yeah, I forget what the actual "point of no return" is. I think I remember once the buds are set being that point. But I always try and remember not to budge them. Anyway, they look (and I know the smell awesome) nice. Good luck

LOL... I posted that on GardenWeb. I've been told that once you start seeing buds form it should not be rotated. That is of course if memory serves me well, lol...
