Bl. Yellow Bird is eating its pot!!

I got this plant 3 years ago and it only had 5 pseudobulbs at the time. Its in a four inch pot which is quickly disappearing under all the roots and PBs climbing down the sides! I love it! I will make sure to post pics on its next flowering. The flowers are so cheerful, and have a lovely night fragrance! The only reason I took it down from its spot is because its time for another insecticide dunk. It has weird white scale insects that just wont die! Im used to the brown ones, and have no problem eradicating those ones from other plants, but these ones just keep coming back, no matter how frequent the treatment! :((

I guess you need to break the pot for a bigger size...

did you try the cinammon mix spray?
soak the plant for 5 min to kill eggs

10 drops dish soap
1/2 teaspoon cinammon extract
2 cups tepid water

this works really good with bugs, even the flies drop from their perch when hit by this mix
cockroaches and mosquitos too

it is so safe you can use this to water your plants and kill the bug eggs too

Wow! That is one massive ball of plant! How many active leads does it have?

Thanks Bud!! I havent heard of that one before, but I will definitely use it this time!! I was hoping to find something gentle like that for my seedlings in sphag. I think whenever I repot I will just throw the whole thing in a larger terra cotta pot. There isnt really any media left, and it seems to like having its aerial roots misted, so it should be fine for a while still. I pulled a 3 PB lead off today and threw it on a mount, since it likes to climb around.

I just checked, and counted 14 active leads, and 6 that just finished that have swollen sheathes with developing buds. Plus the new lead that I separated today and put on a mount.

I would be most definitely interested in a division of your little monster! Come spring, I could give you a piece of my C. forbesii for a piece of this. What say you? :)

Have you tried swabbing the scale with alcohol? I haven't any scale problems but I know it can be used. If you have hand sanitiser in the house maybe you could try swabbing some of the scale to see if that type of alcohol works.
