Nice list of plants! Looks like you were in a Paph mood :) Did you order them from the US? I've never heard of Orchid Inn before, and when I googled it a US grower came up.
|
Yes, I got them in from the US. The owner, Sam Tsui, comes over to Germany a few times per year and posts them from there. I don't think I've ever seen such healthy plants from so far away before. :)
|
Curious to see some photos of them if you have time!
Did he do this as a personal favor, or was he at a show/other in Germany and just ship them over? Because I'm interested! :D |
You can email him and ask if he will bring over plants for you. As long as he has an order in plenty of time and he has enough room left (he has only a certain number he can bring over). As far as I know he's still in Germany but of course you wont get a delivery from him this visit.

Congrats! . . . Where's the pics?
|
Nice....where did you put them?
I've seen that window and it looks "full" to me already lol |
That is good to know that Germany allowed a grower from the USA to bring plants into their country. Sam Tsui must have a permit and passed the agricultural requirements of Germany or else his plants will be quarantined for at least 2 weeks in customs.
|
Bud - that is not necessarily so about the quarantine, if the vendor has the proper Cities and phytosanitary forms and declarations that the plants have been fumigated prior to importation, it is, depending on the country, quite a simple and painless procedure.
When I worked for a commericial grower here in Florida, we imported stuff all the time from all over the world and with the proper paperwork it always cleared customs and the Ag inspectors on the same day that it arrived in country. I do know that for us to do a Show in the UK and bring plants to sell, we would have had to jump through major hoops. It was just not worth it, so we never did. |
Camille, if you ever get a chance to buy from Sam, go for it. He has just about the best plants. There are growers in our Society who have bought from him years ago, and the plants are spectacular. When he came here some time ago, a bought a few seedlings and have not been disappointed.
