Now this is getting ridiculous......

August has been a truly screwy month temperature-wise and it looks like September may be as well. Normally August & early to mid September are hot and humid throughout. Not the type of weather I like but you know what to expect. This year, temps have been bouncing all over the place. Much of August was actually pleasant -- which was a bonus. However, the temp today is supposed to hit the mid 90's F (around 34C). By Tuesday - assuming the forecast holds true -- the "high" is supposed to be 56F (13C)!

I know. The weather is strange everywhere. Here in Holland it is really bad. We did have some nice weather in april and a little in may. Also a few days in june, but the monts july and august have realy been bad. Nothing but rain. Somethimes temps of about 10c. That for the summer. Now it is still not very good. Today and tomorrow we have some sun , but sunday it is over again. So I think this problem is everywhere.

What you describe sounds too familiar. Had the exact same thing over here in Europe. The worst so far this summer was in July when it was 104F one day, then below 60F the next.

The weather has been just crazy overall this year. In France April through June were hot and dry with nearly zero rain. (a 100 year record) Then in July it was chilly, with crazy amounts of rain nearly every day (In france july was the wettest july in all of recorded history). Some nights it was nearly freezing. August started out hot, then was chilly, then a week of extreme heat.....

Yup, crazy here too.

July was scortching hot, so the A/C was running full tilt and we couldn't stay outside for very long. August came and brought cool temperatures. Decided to open all the windows. This week the humidity came back! I had to turn the A/C back on. I tend to get headaches when there's drastic changes in temperature. So I'm hoping fall will settle things out. :)

After the Hurricanes and floods...Manhattan is in a pleasant tolerable weather...for plants, people and animals being walked in the park. My vandas are happy hanging out on the fire escape rails...

And here we are on the Texas Gulf Coast: Wildfires, 100+ temps, a tropical storm in the gulf (which, incidentally, isn't going to give us much of any rain), and hurricane season still has two months to go. Then there is Katya in the Atlantic. Looks like it is turning more westerly now. I hope this doesn't bode more bad weather for the east coast.
If your weather is at least bearable, please enjoy it.

Paul, it has been awful here in Illinois, too. Virtually no rain for August (.25") and temperatures in the 90's. Last week, we had two record setting days. (101, 102) The 102 was the highest temerature recorded for the month of September.
