Maria, you have the right attitude towards birthdays.
First of all, you HAVE to buy yourself a present, and second of all: you have to do it when the occasion presents itself. That means of course that it is perfectly ligit to start practicing at the 3, 9, and 9mnth period, just to make sure that you get it right when the big day comes along. Good work!
