Stenocoryne

I recently bought a Stenocoryne vitellina. RHS lists a Bifrenaria vitellina and a Google search has suggested this is a syn. Any idea as to which is most current? Thank you

:bump: hope someone has the answer for you :)

Most people go by what the RHS says. If new evidence gets published which suggests a plant should be re-classified, the RHS will update their lists.

Orchidwiz also shows Bifrenaria as the accepted genus.

Actually, RHS should not be the guide for species names! You should follow them for Hybrid names which is their realm of action.

for species names, you should follow the Kew World Checkliste World Checklist of Selected Plant Families: Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

they list Bifrenaria vitellina as teh accepted and valid name.

thanks, Ramón. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure the RHS even has a list. The Kew list is what most people go by.
