Cheap humidifiers for orchids?

Hi,

Very new to Orchids.

Thinking of getting a cheap Humidifier from Ebay/DX to make my Orchid a bit more happy. Found this good looking one: $26.30 - Stylish Personal Desktop Air Humidifiers - 1.2L (220V) - Health & Beauty

So, anyone who have used something like it and could comment it?

Thanks in advanced!

Hello and welcome to the OB.
What kind of orchid do you have and what humidity level are you hoping to achieve?

I live in sweden, where the winter is rather longm, dark and dry. I was hoping for something like 80%, in the area my orchids are placed,

Go to your local thrift store. I've seen really expensive ones for about 12 bucks

The thing about the "desktop humidifier" is that it won't humidify a space bigger than ... a desktop. And if that space isn't acutally enclosed to trap the vapor, even that is totally ineffective because the vapor diffuses so quickly away from the spot where the humidifier actually is.

So if you have an enclosure or can build one, this looks like it would be good for about a half to a whole square meter of plant space.

Do you have a humidity meter? Here's a pretty cheap and effective one, to help you measure results:

Thermometer and Hygrometer Gauge - Plant It Earth

$10 USD, which should be practically free in your currency these days XD
