Phalaenopsis honghenensis

Naturally occurring in Yunnan China. This is a deciduous miniature epiphyte with variable coloured flowers. Most clones found for sale are rose pink flowers with darker lips. It was sold to me about a year ago as P. hainanensis but that species has longer sepals, petals, and lip. Many P. honghenensis have been sold as either P. wilsonii (but that species has a notched lip tip) or as P. hainanensis including prized specimens. This species has been exported from China in large numbers under the other names mentioned above. Published illustrations of P. hainanensis show flowers with longer/narrower sepals and petals, and many flowered inflorescence. This belongs to subgenus Aphyllae.

How cute! I've really been thinking about getting one but the fact that it's deciduous scares me. How are you growing it?

Thanks for commenting!! I am growing it with my Masdies, cool to intermediate temps, lots of humidity. As you can see it is mounted, but its so close to the ultrasonic humidifiers that its roots are moist 24/7.

WOW! I just confirmed the flower has a fragrance. Like a citrusy calamondin orange peel smell. Very faint. yesterday I thought it was my fingers because I was eating tangerines, but no such food item today.

I love this. It immediately reminded me of the braceana I recently acquired. I imagined it would have a scent before I read what you said. Yours looks leafless. You've had it about a year. Did it grow leaves and or loose leaves in that time? Phal. braceana is deciduous, and mine has two little one inch leaves but I've only had it for a couple of months with no aparent change. I like to think that after its done blooming it'll grow massive leaves and look less dead. Probably not.
