Two more SW Mexico orchids (and a new favorite!)
This first one I posted before without the bloom...
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...X/IMG_0457.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...X/IMG_0461.jpg This is my new favorite orchid that I have found here. Pardon the photos but it is like 30ft up in a tree. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...X/IMG_0503.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n.../IMG_0503c.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...X/IMG_0508.jpg I thank you all for your time and efforts in helping me! |
The first is clearly Encyclia but they can be hard to identify at best of time (they hybridize in nature and are thus very variable). It could be Enc. spatella or aenicta but also something completly different.
The 2nd one is a Barkeria possibly Barkeria strophinx. |

Here is another one, this is a huge mass, like a meter or so. No flowers though, sorry. I looked at all the pics I could find of Barkeria and none look like this... Is there another source for ID photos? Thanks! |

Correct missed that one Barkeria naevosa is a match.
The big mass could be an Epidendrum. |
Great photos. I love seeing those orchids in the wild.
