Cattleya dowiana var. aurea
Beyond any doubt, this is a nature's masterpice!
I use to say that, if you say you don't like this orchid, it is just one out of two things: or well you have never seen it in person, or well you're lying!!:lol::lol: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4099/...bb631c3f_t.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5097/...5c0e7469_t.jpg |
I've always liked C. Dowiana but I've never owned one. I heard a presentation from the owner of Rueben in Orchids and he said that the plant is from the rain forests of South America so it likes more moisture than the typical Cattleya. Do you find that to be true?

Gratz! Another stunner ;)
My greenhouse opens in about three weeks (painting and a few tweaks occuring now)...maybe then my C. dowiana var. aurea can put out just one bloom please. For now, I will indulge in your picture. |

I love this Mauro!!! i have a question. The topmost flower in the second picture doesn't have the same intricate Venation as the others does that develop more as the flower ages? or is it just Variable between the flowers? These Flowers are Bananas! Great Growing!
