Oncidiinae group ID/care
Hello!
I'm very new to the board. I have had moderate success (translation: more have lived than died!) with a mix of the usual orchids. Last evening, my husband shocked me out of my wits and brought home a large brassia-type. No tag. I checked at the small florist/nursery where he bought it. She had taken all the tags off .... sigh. She said this is an 'oncidiinae group and it was named something something Fang'. That's all she remembers ... Any ideas on who this is? Any suggestions on different care needs vs. the phal/dendrobium crowd? PB241990 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! PB241992 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! PB241991 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! |

Looks like there is a Brassidium Fangtastic ... Brassidium Fangtastic Bob Henley | Flickr - Photo Sharing! brassia fang - Google Search |
Yes, that probably is Brassidium FANGtastic Bob Henley.

It does indeed! Thank you!
Any words of wisdom, care-wise? I have several phals, a couple of dendrobiums, a tiny oncidium and a paph that is starting to recover but I've never encountered one of these. |
Probably a pretty easy grower - moderate light, maybe a bit more than phals. Don't know what kind of Dens you grow, or how much light you give them - if Phal type, about the same amount of light.
I don't grow this specific genus, but some other intergeneric hybrids - I would probably keep it lightly moist. If new foliage is pleated, it needs more water ... and hooray for hubby :) |
