Mini Phal. and Dtps. size?
I've recently gotten into orchids and am learning that I currently like the looks of miniature Phals and Dtps that are available locally. I'm not sure how large these plants can get though, and since I am space limited this is an issue. Can anyone tell me how wide I can expect them to grow? I have plenty of vertical space, so that isn't an issue.
Thanks, Mark |
The Phal alliances I have that are classified as minis generally range from 3"-6" across, with the latter being a few years old. Without knowing that it was bred for small stature by the breeder, it's hard to know how big a Phal will get. So Noids are a gamble.

Thanks for the help Izzie. I'll have to see if I can talk my wife into letting me have another plant. :)

 That's me, the neighborhood enabler.
Just be careful- some noids can get very large, like 20" across. As do named hybrids, so try and know what you're getting. eta: Some of my phals that used to have long leaves, now have shorter fatter leaves as I give them higher light. :twocents: |
