Looks like a Dendrobium hybrid to me, but I'm afraid I don't know which...

It is a nobile-type Dendrobium hybrid.
Here's a link to care instructions from the world's foremost breeder and grower of these: Caring Information |
Howdy
It appears to be some dendrobium. however, I respectfully disagree. It is not a nobile/yamamoto dendrobium --- Did you take the picture very recently? They bloom in winter/very early spring in the northern hemisphere, even the hybrids which don't need so much cold. The shape is very wrong in the lip for a yamamoto/nobile dendrob, unless this is some new hybrid outside of its usual hybridizing family of species. I just went back and saw that it appears to be on a long inflorescence -- nobiles and their hybrids bloom along the main canes in twos, threes, and fours, not a long line of flowers. You have a most interesting and actually fascinating appearing orchid! What can you share about the background--nursery where gotten? any info at all?? What a beauty! Take care May all your orchids bloom like crazy Rex aka POLKA |
Polka,
Hang on something 'cause this would be good... hehehe My mother in law won this orchid on a bingo day. Now, in the photo you can see only 2 spikes. But the orchid has 4 in total, all plenty of flowers and they doesn't appear on the photo..!!!!! Is in her house at Puerto Rico (caribbean) and, believe me, the winter temperature here goes from 70 to 90 degrees on this season (yes, you can go to the beach on winter). I've shot the photo the very same day I've posted them here with my cel phone. I will try to take another shot so you can appreciate it better. It is on the balcony of her house. PD. I've done all kind of tricks trying to convince her to give the orchid to me without any success. hahaha |
Maybe you can check with the Bingo hall, to see where they might buy their orchids from?
|
hahahaha I think they get the prizes from donations.

It's a Dendrobium hybrid with some influence from the Antelope type, probably a mix of that and nobile type, but beyond that you'll never figure out which hybrid. There are thousands of hybrids.
