Phrag Sgt. Eric
I recently acquired this plant, already in bud so can't take credit for this flowering. It is my first Phrag to bloom.

Very nice :) and, if it's you first, I'm sure it won't be your last! :)

I can't believe they sent it to the auction. Though I am glad they did. All my other Phrags and Paphs are at least a year from blooming. In the meantime I will certainly enjoy this one. |
Lovely gloss on that flower, the colour intensity is very good.
Thanks for sharing. |

I was curious to check the breeding as many of these red Phrags have common parents.
Phrag. Sergeant Eric (spelled out - not abbreviated) is Phrag Eric Young x Phrag sargentianum. Phrag Eric Young is Phrag besseae x Phrag longifolium. So, Phrag. Sergeant Eric is 50% Phrag sargentianum, 25% Phrag besseae and 25% Phrag longifolium. My Phrag After Glo is (Phrag Eric Young x Phrag Sorcerer's Apprentice). Phrag Sorcerer's Apprentice is(Phrag longifolium x Phrag sargentianum). So Phrag After Glo is is 25% Phrag sargentianum, 25% Phrag besseae and 50% Phrag longifolium. Very similar breeding. JScott - what is the ns of your flower ? Charlie |
