Some plants in bloom now
These are in bloom in my shade house now:
Two clones of Cattleya warneri. The first is an old plant that sometimes blooms out as a perfect concolor, some other times it bears a tiny line in the centre of the lip, sometimes three nice small marks forming a triangle, sometimes only two marks and so on. The other clone is typical. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/...dc13e6e9_t.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1252/...042704fa_t.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1436/...05fc9bc1_t.jpg The first is a concolor variation of this well-known species. The big lip is remarkable in this clone. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1347/...d5a9bcee_t.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4145/...b3f1985c_t.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1409/...bb00240a_t.jpg A little less known than the famous Laelia pumila, but like the latter, a small, compact plant with large flowers. The main differences from L. pumila are the incurved lip and one side lobe folded over the other. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1326/...aa5b4a0f_t.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/...b778371d_t.jpg Cattleya mendelii, typical. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4153/...e4eefeef_t.jpg Laelia sincorana var. caerulea is now easily found. Native of the Serra do Sincora, a complex of table mountains in the centre of the State of Bahia, Brazil. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/...c426d38a_t.jpg |
You have some beautiful orchids there. Congratulations on a good job of growing. Thanks for sharing the pictures so we can all enjoy them.

Such beautiful flowers, you must be very pleased. :) And also excellent photographs - they are worthy of a calendar in their own right.
|
Really beautiful and I agree with Hedge: your pics are worthy of a calendar!

I always look forward to seeing your photos Mauro! Always beautiful blooms, and fabulous photography!

Thank you, guys!

Awesome pics, Mauro. Simply breathtaking.

Hey there's an idea... a Mauro Rosim Orchid calender... but how could you choose only 12 of Mauro's pictures, it would be impossible!
These are fantastic Mauro. Really interesting about that first one and how it varies in it's bloomings. |
Great blooms Mauro! :bowing Love the 3rd shot of the Catt walkeriana and also the Laelia sincorana var. caerulea. Makes me doubly regret losing a bid on one over ebay a few months back.
