Cymbidium "???"
 

I got a division of this Cymbidium a while ago (No ID) and now my plant bloomed!

The mother plant was very floriferous, so I suspected mine was going to eventually bloom in my "warm weather".

The flowers are relatively small, do not have fragrance, and the thin petals curl back a little. The foliage is fairly straight up as seen in the pictures.

Does anybody have a clue on what variety, or parentage this plant might have?

I suspect there is an Asian Cym. species in the close background but the lack of fragrance makes it less than desirable for that line of breeding. The parentage will probably remain unknown. Put an identifying clonal name in quotes on it or a number and if you like to keep noids, do so. If not, pass it on.

I have to make a correction...
I just got my nose really close to the flowers, and yes!
The flowers do have a light pleasant fragrance!

I stand by my original post but the slight fragrance, the leaf characteristics and the length of the spike tells me it is probably Cym. sinense in the background, maybe even a parent. That does not mean it has been identified! Please do not take it as such but enjoy it for what is is... a noid.

I see the sinense in it - could be and Aunty Mary Kovich. Would like to know mayself. Nice plant - it looks like you bloomed it well.

I've just looked at some pictures of Auntie Mary Kovich and they look identical to my plant!

But as Cym Ladye emphasizes, you have to be cautious when identifying ;)

That is not a deffinate identification but SWAG
(Scientific wild a-- guess). Most sinense hybrids have those tall straight upright spikes. This is a picture of my Aunty Mary Kovich (AMK) P1010487 pictures from flowers photos on webshots . Hope it links for you. This hybrid is quite variable and have see an alba form in bloom ( Not mine unfortunately) Look at Cym Nut as well ---
AMK grows and blooms well in Florida - the growing conditions would be similar to yours. I bought my
Cym Nut from a grower in Puerto Rico. The Cymbidium Society of California would do well to become the Cymbidiums society of America - as their name implies.
The society would have less financial difficulty if the membership reach were broadened.

I am sure the CSA (Cymbidium Society of America) not "Cymbidium Society of California" as you imply, would welcome you forming a Branch in Florida. If Hawaii can start a Branch, as they just did this past year, I am sure you could too if there is that much interest.
