Vanda Pachara Delight in bloom
 

I got this last February in spike. I was worried that I might not get it to bloom again. It also got an infection and I had to cut off a few leaves.
It had a second spike starting until I spilt cinnamon on it.

like blue Vandas - got two of the same - small size - not many roots.. in a basket on my south window. how large is yours? do you grow it under lights? any advice to get such nice blooms?

Very beautiful ! Like others, I love those blue vanda. Congratulations.
Stephano, all blue Vandas have V. coerulea for parents. That's mean that it needs huge amount of light to bloom and regular fertilization. As I grow outdoors, I don't know about lights. But all my coeruleas bloom very well with few hours of direct sun light in early morning late afteroon.

Well Beverly seems to be in Connecticut - maybe 50 miles north from me -
I have a southern exposure window -
I know that Vandas are better outside in the tropics - but could buy a couple of small ones for 5$...
so worth trying -
saw sme at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden -
here they are... I was curious how Beverly grows them...

Your plants are really great Stefano ( and my god for 5 $)! And many people grow Vanda very well in temperate climate. I wanted to point to the fact that Vandas bloom better with a few hours of direct sun. And southern exposure are perfect, sure you will do great job.

Rastafouni! those are the Vandas from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden conservatory!!!
not mine -
it is a big condervatory - all glass. mostly Vanda alliance! have not seen a single Dendrobium there!
anyway mine are small in a 10 cm basket by my window. Have also something that i bought for $5 at a store - was a dying plant and i am growing in water in a glass vase. could be Neofineta or many other things.... I put some dedrobiums on coconut husks

anyway I attach my Vandas.... wonder if they will survive!

the NOID in the vase seems better than when i got it!

You have me intrigued with your application of cinnamon to your Vanda. Is this a local custom?
Would you recommend it to other Vanda growers?
I am joking of course. There just has to be a story here. Are you going to share it?

Hi everyone,
I grow my Vanda in a south window, or in a south skylight window. It's in a basket so I water the roots almost every day. I also soak it in fertilizer 3 out of 4 saturdays.
I put it outside late in spring. We had a really rainy summer here and it got an infection before I could start spraying with physan 20. I had to cut off quite a few leaves and I put cinnamon on the cuts to keep them from getting secondary infections and dry the cuts.
Most of the roots are tucked up in the wood basket.
I have another Vanda in bloom that I will post pictures of in a few days.
