Oh My Gosh - Went Shopping!!!
This weekend was the monthly meeting of the Central Vancouver Island Orchid Society. I am a new member. With all the snow they had in Dec. they decided to hold their Christmas potluck lunch and auction this past Saturday. I took my husband as control for my addiction for orchids. Well that didn't work. He bought more than I did, plus we stopped and picked up glass and supplies for a new greenhouse!!! Man can this guy shop
We had a wonderfull time and picked up some really great deals and plants. Will post pics soon.:photo: In the meantime, can anyone give me advice for a Bassavola Little Star. Mainly looking for details on humidity and watering? |
I can't help with the Bassavola, but congratulations on the greenhouse supplies and all the wonderful new plants to fill it! :cheer::cheer:

Sounds like a perfect shopping trip!! :) How mant orchids did you come back with?

I am rather jealous of the green house... I don't have the room to build one as our property is rather small and our backyard garden has consumed the space we had... LOL... Oh well, such is the life of a gardener!

Thanks Dorothy for the links. I was able to pick up a bit of info for the Brassavola from them.
Yes the greenhouse is very exciting. We live in a very remote area so being able to grow our own food and have orchids together - well I'm not sure hubby will see me very often - now I wonder if he thought of that :hmm. He actually bought his first orchid at the auction too. A pretty pink Phal noid. We picked up a Brassavola Little Star, Lockhartia oerstedii, Masdevallia Dragon Fire, and two Phal noids, plus a small Drosera capensis (Cape Sundew) for unwanted pests. Here are some pics: |
